Accommodations

The first night we stay in Chamberlain, South Dakota at a Best Western motel.
The cost is included in the field camp fee, meals this first day are the students responsibility.
 
  • Please indicate any special dietary needs (including vegetarian) on the application form.  Most needs can be accommodated.
     
  • Weeks one and two will be spent at Sheridan College in Sheridan , Wyoming.
    Students are assigned two to a dorm in Founders Hall, pictured below.  This balcony faces a spectacular view of the Bighorn Mountains.  Dorm rooms are in small clusters.  Each cluster has a lounge with television, bathrooms and showers, and a small kitchen.  Each room has two network ports for internet connection.  Lecture and drafting facilities are all in Founders Hall along with exercise equipment, a game room, and laundry faculties.

    Meals are provided while in Sheridan with the exception of dinner on days off.


     

    The third week we will be at Mickelson Field Station in northwestern Wyoming.
     
    It is located along Chief Joseph Scenic Highway about 30 miles northwest of Cody, Wyoming and is nestled in the heart of the Absaroka Mountain Range.  Housing is in traditional cabins with bunk beds.  There are common shower houses for each men and women.  Dining is in the mess hall.  Mickelson has a common building which houses a large comfortable lecture and drafting area, a computer lab, and rec. room.  The weeks mapping project is immediately outside your cabin door.
     


     


     

    Week four will be spent at Northwestern College in Powell, Wyoming.
    All meals will be provided while at Northwest College.  The mapping area, Alkali Anticline, is approximately an hour drive  from Powell.

    A coed suite-style residence hall, Simpson Hall's features include:

    Weeks five and six we travel to the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology located in Rapid City, South Dakota.
    Students will be assigned two to a dorm while at the School of Mines. All rooms have internet access and you will find large common rooms and computer labs in the dormitory.  Meals while at the School of Mines will be provided with the exception of dinner on the days off.



     

    The last night we stay in Chamberlain, South Dakota at a Best Western motel.
