The Department strives to keep up with the rapid pace of changes in computer technology through periodic upgrades in hardware and software.
The Department has a geochemical laboratory capable of performing major ion analyses on water samples. Our analytical instruments include an ion chromatograph and an atomic adsorption spectrophotometer. Other equipment includes pH meters, ion specific probes, a centrifuge, a precision balance, precision pipettes, an ultrapure water filtration system, and equipment necessary to perform wet chemical analyses.
We have a close working relationship with the Department of Chemistry that allows us access to other analytical instruments including:
Our faculty also have working relationships with colleagues at other agencies and institutions. Through these contacts, we have access to mass spectrometers for isotopic and dissolved gas analyses.
